Yay, I finally got the photos up. Haha I took quite a few days huh, but well, I used a non-digital camera so I had to get the photos developed, scanned first before I could upload them.

I must say there were the bads and goods of the graduation ceremony. The BADs first:

1. It would have been better to have my commencement on Saturday, which was 07.07.07. How cool it would have been…since 7 is my favourite number and stuff…And if it was on Saturday, my family and I could have made it to our relative’s wedding on Sunday. We ended up visiting them on Saturday night cos going on Sunday would have been too rushed. The atmosphere wasn’t really there cos well, our other relatives weren’t there. I won’t want any more clashes next time there are big occasions to go to.

2. Apparently, the service given to guests wasn’t really that good? I got first-hand feedback lar ok…My parents didn’t get the commencement gazette until like the end. And they took it themselves summore…Which is opposite of what I experienced actually. I won’t say the service was top-notch, but well, I got the information I needed, they directed me to the right places and they passed me the commencement gazette, hehe. Well, I guess the service can be improved, cos there shouldn’t be any differentiation in the service provided to graduates and guests.

3. Of the 3 brothers I have, NONE turned up for my ceremony. I was so angry I really wanted to bash them up. But I look ugly when I’m angry and I couldn’t afford to look ugly on my graduation day so I reined in my fists. Next time, I won’t give them treats anymore I tell you. It’s a pity my first brother’s graduation ceremony was 2 weeks ago and I’d already gone for it. If not, I’d have taken revenge and gone MIA for his graduation…

4. A lot of my buddies did not graduate with me! Ok lar, I should be happy for them since they are continuing with honours, but aiya I really had few people to take photos with lor! Next year, I shall crash all your ceremonies people :P

5. Oh yea, I pity my feet cos they look ugly now. Fully ‘decorated’ with blisters and no amount of handyplasts can help. All because of the court shoes. Had wanted to wear another pair cos they looked more glam. But I went for court shoes instead on that day itself cos I thought they looked neater and smarter with the grad gown. Then on that day I saw people coming in with all sorts of fancy shoes…oh yea, and to sidetrack a bit, there was this girl who wore a really short skirt, and her grad gown’s hooks weren’t secured…Hmm it just didn’t look right for such a ceremony haha…

Now, the GOODs:

1. I did not need to share my parents with the evil brothers, haha! I could take as many photos as I wanted with them and no need to save film for this brother and that brother.

2. I like the light cerise hood. Although I don’t understand why the graduation gown must look like that, compared to other hoods, I think light cerise looked much better. And don’t get me started on the gowns for anything higher than bachelor’s. Ugly! Anyway, luckily I declared European Studies as my first major. Cos the hood would have been orange if Sociology was my first major.

3. Except for those who graduated with first class honours, the rest weren’t differentiated when we went up on stage. You can see it both ways. But I think it’s fine to have everyone being presented in the same way. Actually, I had thought that my major would be read out but they only read out the majors for those who graduated with honours. But nvm lar, no one can take what I’ve achieved from me, so all’s well.

So now, the photos…Not putting every photo here but whoever wants to see more photos can go to my zorpia album or wait for me to bring the developed photos to our next outing, hehe…For now, I’ll just talk about some of the more meaningful shots:

With the parents and the lil sis. One of the few family photos we had on that day, and without the 3 evil brothers at that. Everywhere was so crowded and my mum can’t really stand crowds, so we took this outside the NUS Museum.

With the lil sis. Well, I just hope she can do better than me one day.

With her again, outside MPSH 6. We moved away from the UCC after getting tired of it, haha. And I thought I should take some photos at places where I really spent my time (slacking, studying, sitting for exams etc.). If I had my way and my sis wasn’t suddenly running a temperature, we would have hiked to FASS to take pictures there haha. Anyway, at first sight, you would think this shot is just one of those mistimed ones. But but but, I just have to talk about this cos it makes me laugh lar. I looked at the camera, but aiya she had to go and look to her right. She was looking at guys at the pull-up bar ok! Nonsense right???

With Jia Dai! One of the chums who graduated with me. Didn’t know hers was on the same day at the same time. Pleasantly surprised to see her there, I must say.

With Liwen. One of the few whom I knew were graduating that day. So, I had planned to meet up with her. But haha she arrived very early while I came like 10 mins before the doors were closed. She still helped me get the hood on (the hooks were really stubborn man), so thanks gal!

With Hilwah, my best friend way back in primary school! We kinda drifted apart in sec school even though she went to TK too. But no hard feelings lar, we still talked when we met in school or on the bus. Met her parents too. Hadn’t seen them for about 10 yrs man. Pretty cool to finally take a photo with Hilwah after like 10 yrs.

With Lyna. Not really close to her, but I guess she’s more than a hi-and-bye friend. A nice girl lar, and very hyper too haha! She was so excited about taking the photo and because of that I was hyperexcited as well hahaha…

At the I-was-here place. What is this thing called ar, not statue…installation? Well, we couldn’t get everything into the frame but anyone should be able to guess it was ‘I was here’ right? The statement is a bit overused but since it’s graduation, and you only graduate once (discounting the fact that you can further your studies lar), must take ok! Haha but I would have been a bit more pleased if they had painted the letters in bold colours. A bit unglam to have an unfinished concrete wall as your background.

Ok I guess that’s quite a lot of photos already. The rest are mostly pics of me at different places. Oh yea I realised I always had poles and similar-shaped structures as part of the backdrop. Haha all these phallic symbols around campus….So crappy!

Two final photos, which I think display more than just phallic symbols haha.

See that ray of light at the right side? I’ll take that as symbolic of the bright future I will have. Remember tiger, tiger, burning bright? The Almighty will see me through life, I believe.

And this one. Glad I asked my mum to snap this before we hailed a cab outside the engine faculty. Got the meaning of this photo after looking at it again and again. And it says: I may be at the bottom of the stairs now, but in time I’ll reach the top. I will.
