Super Show 4: It leaves you wanting more…

20 Feb

I actually don’t know where to start. My last blog entry was on 22 Feb 2011, just a couple days short of a full year without blogging. I always wish I could blog more, especially about my travel experiences, but I end up being lazy and not following up on the thousands of pictures I take away from home. That sort of got better after a colleague introduced me to photobooking, which I think is the easiest way to organise the photo memories you have. You put in your own photos, you write your own stories. While we used to just process all the photos we have and arrange them in photo albums, the world of digital photography just didn’t make it feasible to print out all the photos you take. So you end keeping them in your hard disk, memory cards and what not. Once in a while, you’ll revisit them but other than that, they just take up disk space. So photobooking is the perfect way to revive the human love for preserving memories. I share my best photos and string them together with a truthful story about things I experience.

But I digress. A lot.

Today’s focus is actually on my first concert experience. I’ve followed quite a number of singers (not only K-pop artists yea, I love other artists too), but I think nobody else could have given me a better maiden concert experience. Nobody but Super Junior.

A lot of people dismiss Super Junior without giving themselves enough time to understand what these boys are all about. I’ve never been to other concerts and I’m sure all singers always want to show the best to their fans, but these guys are just something else. Sometimes when you spend long hours doing something, you would occasionally look at your watch and ask yourself: just when is this ending?

But when I looked at my watch last night, the only thing on my mind was: why is time passing so fast? I don’t want this to end. As the boys were performing their smash hit Sorry, Sorry, I thought to myself: Oh no, we don’t have that much time with them already. They are going to fly back to Korea already.

And since I mentioned Sorry, Sorry, many people associate Super Junior with just that one song. Some people don’t even know it’s Super Junior’s song. My point is because these boys keep performing powerful dance numbers like Sorry, Sorry; Bonamana; and Mr. Simple, some people end up thinking that’s all they are made of. My point is go and listen to other songs in their albums. Actually the songs that made me fall in love with them are not even any of the above-mentioned. I actually fell in love with songs like Dreaming Hero by Super Junior K.R.Y. and In my Dream from their fourth album. Songs like these gives them a better chance at showing off their vocals. That’s probably one other reason why I wished yesterday’s concert was longer. I wanted them to perform more songs that will let them show off their vocals better. I’ve mentioned this before to some of my friends, concert organisers should consider bringing the Super Junior K.R.Y. concert to Singapore. I would totally go!

Ok I realise I’m not really writing coherently and I have to go off to work soon, so I must wrap up. In that four hours that felt like just one hour last night, you guys showed me the passion for what you do every day. Enjoying something not performed in your language can be a really difficult thing to do, but you guys made me forget that. Because you guys were so awesome, I didn’t even bother looking at the English lyrics on the screen because my eyes were fixated on your performance. Oh, and I must mention this. Buying the pair of binoculars for this concert was a really good decision. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get a good view of them as my seat was like in the last few rows of the indoor stadium. But all my worries were dispelled when I looked through the binoculars! It’s still a pity that we didn’t get the front row seats though! We were almost there (the seat numbers were generated already!), and if not for the slow online booking system, we would probably have been able to be within metres of the lovely Super Junior boys.

Just one last thing to say. I really wished Heechul could have enjoyed performing in Singapore with the rest, but Kyuhyun moving along the aisles on our side quite a lot makes up for it I guess? Hehe…I can’t wait for Heechul to be back, but Kyuhyun has this way of charming you with his all-rounded talents. Haha….ok really gotta go. Maybe I’ll write more in the evening. Or maybe I’ll just tweet. =)
